Intelligent Control for Levitation Systems
The Challenge
The core challenge was achieving stable control over a magnetic levitation system, which is inherently nonlinear and unstable. Standard linear controllers like PID were insufficient, causing persistent oscillations and poor performance that made the system unreliable for high-precision applications.
The Solution
A Neuro-Fuzzy Controller (NFC) was engineered. By leveraging an Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS), a smart controller was created that learns and adapts to the system's complex dynamics. The ANFIS model was trained on data generated from a PID-controlled Simulink environment, allowing it to master the nonlinear relationships between system error, error rate, and the necessary control signal, moving far beyond the capabilities of fixed-gain controllers.
